Crook & Weardale Choral Society, who are based in Crook, County Durham follow a rich tradition of singing in the area which goes back over a hundred years.
A few years ago in 2010 the Crook Choral Society marked its 50th anniversary and Wolsingham Choral Society marked its 75th anniversary; the current choir which has its roots in those organisations was revived in 1995 and has now performed in well over 200 concerts throughout Wear Valley, Co Durham and beyond. The summer of 2014 took us to the island of Lindisfarne to perform Adrian Self’s St Cuthbert’s Cantata; 2015 took us across the Pennines to Carlisle.
We sing a wide range of well known, and also more challenging, Classical and more contemporary music. We always enjoy the glory and fun of singing carols and seasonal music at Christmas.
The choir is cheerful, friendly and fun loving but at the same strive to constantly improve the standard of performance. We’re an amateur group but we take our music seriously and always aim to perform to the highest standard.
